Entry Requirements

  • At least the Senior High School Certificate/Senior Secondary School/other equivalent pre-university examination form the government school (with the period of at least 12 years of study from primary to higher secondary);
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) ‘A’ Level , Diploma in the related field or other equivalent pre-university examinations;
  • Any other certificate that is recognized by Senat of the University equivalent to the above.

  • Passed the UTM interview (if capable)

Language requirements

  • A score of not less than 500 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (or TOEFL (IBT) > 59);
  • A minimum overall band score of 5.5 in or IELTS (Academic);
  • A minimum overall band score of 5.5 in TEEP (UTMSPACE);
  • A minimum overall band score of 3 in MUET (STPM holder).

Curriculum

For students majoring in this field, within the first three years of the duration of the course, its curriculum is similar to the courses provided for Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. In the third year, a specialized courses specific for Electronic Engineering are taught, such as the courses on System Modeling and Analysis, Microprocessor, Communication Principle, Semiconductor Material Engineering, Control System Design, Digital Signal Processing, and Electronic Systems in the third year. 

Students are also obliged to undergo industrial training at least for duration of 10 weeks either in the private or government sector during the 'Short Semester' in the third year. The purpose of this is to equip future graduates with practical and technical skills besides exposing graduates to industrial working environment.
During the second semester of the third year, students will be given options to choose their specialization in any one of the Electronic Engineering areas, namely, the Electronic System Design Engineering, Microelectronic Engineering, Medical Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, or Computer Engineering.   In the  final year, specialization in Electronics Engineering field is further strengthened. Students are required to select seven (7) courses in their chosen specialization area to expand their knowledge
