Entry Requirements

  • Entry to year one, HNC, is 1 Scottish Higher at grade C or above OR 
  • 1 A level at grade D or above 
  • These must include Maths, Physics or another technical subject. Plus English at Standard Grade credit level 
  • Entry to year two, HND, is the HNC Aircraft Engineering 
  • Applicants who have successfully completed the EASA Part 66 (or equivalent) course will normally be required to complete a one-semester progression course (at SCQF Level 8) to gain direct entry to year three (Ordinary level) of the BEng course 
  • For people with relevant aircraft engineering experience but no relevant formal qualifications, the arrangements for accreditation of prior learning (APL) will be in accordance with the conditions set out by UHI 
  • International applicants must meet the IELTS entry criteria as well as meet the UKBA requirements

Curriculum

First Year

  • Aircraft engineering graded unit 1 
  • Aircraft propulsion systems introduction 
  • Aircraft structures and materials 
  • Communication practical skills 
  • Mathematics and physics for aviation

Option units may include:

  • Practical aircraft skills 
  • Aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic systems 
  • Aircraft electrical and electronic practical skills 
  • Electronic and electrical fundamentals for aviation 
  • Aircraft flight control systems 
  • Aircraft maintenance skills
Second Year
